Medical Device Innovation Challenge Application

The Upstate MIND Medical Device Innovation Challenge is a 6-month program to assist medical device innovators determine if their idea/concept has commercialization merit.

Those accepted into the program will receive 6-months of workspace in the Creation Garage, resources, workshops, and mentorship — at no cost.


• Your idea/early prototype that fits the definition of a medical device.
• You have minimal capital investment, less than $100,000 per year.
• You are able to speak or communicate in English.
• You commit to participate in workshops and projects.

Applications are due by: May 31, 2017  Application deadline has been extended to June 15, 2017

Was your innovation/idea developed as part of your specific role at a University and/or with University resources/facilities?

Acceptance to the program requires being on site in Syracuse, NY. Are you able to participate in-person during the July 2017 – January 2018 program?

Thank you very much for your interest in this opportunity. The MIND Challenge Review Committee will evaluate your application. Additional questions and/or interview may be required. Accepted participants will enter into an agreement regarding requirements for inclusion in the program, occupancy information, metrics evaluation, mentorship and obligations.

All IP that is brought in by the participant is owned by the participant.
